Roughton Parish Council have three vacancies which they are looking to fill.
The Council covers a wide area-Martin, Dalderby, Thornton, Roughton and Roughton Moor are looking to encourage applicants from all members of the Parish.
What does a Parish Council do?
Parish Councils are a vital bridge between District Council and County Councils. Parishioners can voice their concerns at a Parish Council meeting and often, representatives from both District Councils and County Council will be present.
Parish Councils are consulted on planning applications and have various powers- for example, to contribute to the cost of traffic calming measures. This can be seen in Roughton with the solar powered speed device. Thanks to pressure from parishioners in Roughton Moor, LCC Highways are looking at reducing the speed limit on Moor Lane.
